The team at Mundesley Golf Club is hoping to build on a successful 2022 under a new set of captains for the coming year.
The past 12 months saw plenty of strong showings from the club, including victory in Division One of the Norfolk Handicap League.
It also came within a whisker of reaching the final of the Myhill Cup and progressed well in the Scratch Cup.
Meanwhile, the club’s juniors section won the Bass Trophy.
Andrew Keates, club chairman, said 2022 had also seen the opening of a new, expanded pro shop, while many new golfers joined and made use of a highly successful trial membership package.
Mr Keates said: “We are looking forward to another successful year of golf in 2023.
“The club will continue to provide excellent value for its members and has managed to keep subscription fee increases below inflation.
“We hope to welcome more new members to the club and, at present, do not charge a joining fee.”
Paul Harrington, the new men's club captain, has taken up golf in earnest after retiring early from a 40-year career managing the bidding process for major projects in the construction industry.
Ladies' captain Caroline Shipp is a retired police officer who served for 30 years, mainly covering roads policing in Sussex.
She was also ladies captain at her previous club, Weybrook Park, near Basingstoke, before retiring to Trimingham with her partner Bev, who works as an administrative assistant at Mundesley Golf Club.
The club’s seniors captain is Steve Clark, who worked as a sales director in Singapore for 16 years and is a regular competitor in inter-club fixtures.
He was in Singapore for the drive-in with outgoing seniors captain, John Roebuck, deputising for him.
Juniors captain is Max Cutting, who takes the helm having already won five trophies.
Max, 15, was part of the victorious Bass team and has improved his handicap by 10 shots in 2022.
He comes from a family of golfers including his grandparents, Derek and Vivienne Rush, and also caddies for his dad, Chris.
The club held a ‘tartan scramble’ event on New Year’s Day to welcome in 2023, which included a ceremonial drive-in.
