Damian Hilton's first task upon his Wroxham return will be trying to end a fourth-month wait for a league win, writes Adrian Gowling.
The new Yachtsmen boss – who made more than 400 appearances for the club during his playing days before managing them from May 2005 until November 2008 – is back in the Trafford Park dugout after completing a shock switch from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table-toppers Norwich United on Thursday.
Hilton and player-coach Gavin Lemmon, also a former Wroxham player, arrive with their 'new club' in the midst of a relegation battle. The Yachtsmen haven't won in 19 Ryman League North Division One matches, their last success coming on October 10 at Redbridge.
Last weekend they fell into the drop zone courtesy of a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Waltham Abbey.
This position was further exacerbated on Tuesday night when a youthful team were beaten 4-0 at promotion-chasing Harlow Town. Wroxham's case wasn't helped when rivals Dereham Town did them no favours by losing at Abbey on the same night.
The Yachtsmen go into today's home match against mid-table Thamesmead Town three points from safety. But they do have the luxury of two games in hand on the side directly above them, Waltham Abbey.
