Drivers in Norfolk are being targeted by phone scammers claiming they owe fines for using council car parks.
A spokesman for West Norfolk Council, which operates car parks in King's Lynn, Hunstanton, Heacham and Burnham Market, said it had received a number of calls from worried users.
It also runs Parking Operations, which delivers parking enforcement for local authorities across the county, issuing penalty charge notices (PCN) for those who overstay by sticking parking tickets on their windscreens.

"We are aware there is a national scam message that has been texted out to mobile phones and we have received a few calls about the phishing messages," the spokesman said.
"Parking Operations do not contact people by text.
"A penalty charge notice is served either directly on to the vehicle concerned by way of the ticket attached to the windscreen or via post to the registered keeper.
"We recommend that if you receive one of these texts please report it as spam through your phone."
Suspicious text messages can be forwarded for free to 7726, which will report them to mobile phone providers.
