North Walsham has played host to a successful taster chess tournament.
On February 23, a five-round taster chess tournament took place at North Walsham Community Centre.
The event saw 66 participants of diverse ages.
The event was organised by Norfolk County Chess Association (NCCA) in conjunction with North Walsham Library Chess Club (NWLCC).
It was aimed at offering inexperienced players a taste of the competitive chess scene.
The players received a chance to engage in friendly games with FM Martin Walker, the reigning Norfolk County Chess Champion, and were challenged to an array of chess puzzles.
The main tournament winner in the open section was Ashley Robinson from North Walsham.
Larysa Klepikovska, from Lowestoft, took the top prize in the under 18 category.
Dan Joal Allwin Christopher from Norwich juniors won the under 13s, and George Potter, also from Norwich Juniors, saw success in the under 11s.
The under 9s section concluded with a tie between Ronnie Chayut of Colman School and Oleksandr Tychyna from Norwich Juniors.
