Where you live in the region could have a major impact on how quickly you can sell your home, according to a new study.

Research by home buyer firm Property Solvers revealed a stark difference in sale times depending on a property’s postcode, with a whopping four-week difference between the quickest and slowest performing locations.

Measuring how long it took to sell homes in the past year, Lowestoft came out on top, with the average home selling after just 15 weeks (108 days) on the market. 

Homes in Attleborough performed nearly as well, selling after an average of 16 weeks (112 days), followed closely by Wymondham and Great Yarmouth, both at 16 weeks and one day.

At the other end of the spectrum, homeowners hoping for a quick sale in Dereham and the NR14 area of Norwich were left disappointed, with sellers having to wait an average of 19.5 weeks (137 days) before finding a buyer.

Sellers in North Walsham and the NR5 area of Norwich were waiting almost as long, with an average sale time of 19 weeks (132 days).

Time is measured from the day a property first appears on Rightmove until it is officially marked as sold at the HM Land Registry.

But does it matter how long a home is on the market?

According to Natasha Wright, Arnolds Keys’ county sales manager, yes.

She said: "Despite what some people might assume, selling quickly doesn’t mean you are underselling. Often the first buyer is the best.

"A quick sale means less stress as less likelihood of the purchaser changing their mind. 

"The seller will then be able to move on with their life with no more interruptions from viewings.

"Keeping your home clean, tidy and presentable is crucial to this."
