CLARKE BARBARA RUTH Peacefully at home in Sheringham on Saturday, September 8th, 2018, aged 85 years, following a few months suffering from kidney failure. A much loved widow of Roger Clarke, mother of Penny and Nicole, grandmother of Philip, Charlotte, Harry and Jane and great-grandmother of Elena and Thea. Barbara, born in York married Norfolk born Roger in 1955. She worked as a nurse at Pineheath Hospital in High Kelling from the early 1960s until 1989, where in 1973 she took over as matron. Barbara and Roger were key figures in the fund raising for High Kelling Village Hall during the 1960s. Roger also led the team of volunteer builders that built the hall. Barbara, along with fellow nurse, Merry Frost initiated the Holt Area Caring Society in 1980 a charity that still provides essential transport for those in need. The funeral will be held at Cromer Crematorium on Friday, September 21st at 2 p.m. The family have requested no flowers although donations to the RNLI would be very much appreciated can be sent c/o Blyth & Sons, 4 Cremer Street, Sheringham, NR26 8DZ. 01263 823155.Your tribute has been received.
